I've read somewhere in the forum the normal temperature for asus m50vm is about 30-40c for the processors.. I've got mine one for like 65-75c for the processors. Is this normal?

I had temperature problem before, but I sent it to rma and the asus people clean up my fan, replace my motherboard and even updated my bios. Now it's cooler than before but I still think it's a bit high though... What is the normal temperature for asus m50vm?

    Cheers

No, that isn't normal. It's hot.

I recommend undervolting, via the Undervolting Guide. And/or get a notebook cooler

Try an revert back to the previous BIOS version. The BIOS controls when the fans kick in and how fast they run and the new ones doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

Sigh.. I guess I'll rma it again then... The fan sometimes runs in the maximum speed. When I used NB Probe to check it, it says my cpu temp is normal when its around 75c.. Once it reaches 80c it's in fatal condition and my fan is in fully on mode.. Mostly my laptop stays in around 68c for normal usage.. I haven't try it on games though.. :(

Anyone here using the same laptop as me? What is your normal temperature under both normal and intensive (playing game) condition?

Mine stays at the 45-50 range.

It was stuck for a while at the 60 range, and then I removed some software and updated some drivers and it went back to the 45-50 level.

When I am doing something intensive it will jump up to 55.

Did you do any undervolt for your processor or is it out of box temperature? I really hope they will fix my laptop.. Tried to call asus today but they didn't pick up the call.. I'll try to call them again tomorrow :(

PS: how about your THRM temperature? Is it as high as 80c like mine?

I've rma'd my laptop the other day and the asus technician said that the temperature is normal, they left my laptop on for 4 days in a row and the laptop is not hot, even though my temperature is 60-70c.. Which is quite true, the laptop itself doesn't feel warm..

Anyway I'm thinking of doing the undervolting using rmclock first, then is it possible to do it permanently on bios? I tried to check on bios but there's not setting to adjust the voltage for the processor..

I didn't undervolt. Another thing I noticed (which may or may not be relevant) is that the tin foil (hit sink?) inside the PCMCIA slot (on the top of the slot) came detatched. I pushed it back up.

But mostly I got updated the drivers and removed some software that was running in the background.

I decided to do undervolt and the maximum temperature drops from 90c to 83c :)
