great find! this notebook is pretty nice.
-
Oh, it has 1GB VRAM. Probably be DDR2 then.
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
-
Would this follow what the M50Vm's reviews say? the only difference really being the gfx card.
I was looking at getting the Vm, but it's being replaced with the Vn (as fom what the sales team just emailed me back with..). With basically the same specs, bar Tv tuner and better gfx card, do you think it will be just as quiet as the Vm??

how much better is the 9650gt over the 9600gs?
-
I've just ordered one of these.. has anyone done a review yet?
I'm considering trying it, but I have absolutely no experience.. -
according to various websites the 9650GT is about 20% better than the 9600 GT. Most of the reviews for it seem fair good, i'm getting mine in the next couple weeks

Hello,
Is M50VN really quiet? Does it have Centrino2 technology? What you would recommend to buy: M50vn or L50vn?
Thanks in advance -

No its not really quiet - its not incredibly noisy but Its louder than I had hoped
Yes it has Centrino 2
I don't know much about the L50VN but personally not pleased with my choice of the M50VN. -

The L50 series is a glorified version of the M50 series. If you require a more professional look with the leather trimmings, then the L50 would suit better.
-
The point is that I am thinking of buying one of the following and I don't know which will suit me best: Asus M50VN, M51VA, L50VN (this one is the same as M50Vn, but with leather? Are there any more changes?) and Dell Studio 1537 (2.0ghz). What do you think of these and what would you recommend?

Re: Gotei 13
Overall I am just very let down with the quality of the computer. I've been having multiple problems since I got it and will be sending it into Asus once I get back to my home country.
I am considering selling it, but I can't find a good market for second hand laptops here.
(Sorry for bringing up an old thread, didn't notice I hadn't replied) -
I wouldn't mind buying it from you since i am probably going to buy one next year.

If you are seriously interested in that send me a PM, I'm actually in Australia for the whole of January so that might suit both of us.

I just ordered an L50 Vn-C1 from Xotic PC. I had heard Asus was going to discontinue this model since the N version is the big seller and this is just a spiffed up leather version. But, I really liked what I saw of it, with the leather trimmings and all. It will suit me well using it in business presentations (have to make money somehow, besides gaming, of course), so I went ahead and grabbed one. From what I can tell, the L model is really just a leather wrapped N version and it does have the WSXGA plus screen which I wanted. Now, the M version I had also heard Asus was going to discontinue with the N version being its replacement. I had not heard any complaints either about the L, M, or N versions presenting any problems, but, will let you know when I get my L , which will hopefully be in a few days. Of course, when I get it, I will immediately try it out and if I don't like it, back it goes. Will let you know, but Asus has never disappointed me yet. The other thing I have to change, I consider Vista to be crapware, so out it goes for XP and hopefully those drivers won't be a problem.

I just got that laptop and I dont find it very noisy other than the cd player being loud at startup. The differences between this laptop and the M51 is the graph card and cpu. The 51 is more for non gamers (the graph card is not as good but hte cpu is better).
I like my M50vn very much, it looks good, the keyboard has a nice feel. Only things I dont like that much about it is the 6cell battery they give with it ( gonna have to try to find a 12 cell or a 9 cell soon) and the fact that this model being the best of the M50 series they didnt give it a better cpu.
Other than that even though the gpu has ddr2, you cna still oc it a bit because this comp doesnt heat much.
Btw for all those that want to oc it, i tried riva tuner and it didnt work, and ntune just wont start , idk what to do, flashing is a bit extreme. -
just for the record the m50vn is better than the l50vn as the l50 has the general model cpu whereas the m50 has the performance model. I looked at the l50 and flipped but its the same laptop with finer casing and a 2mp webcam opposed to the m50s 1.3.

Well I bought it last weekend. Or well almost. I bought the X57Vn as it's called here (as far as I can tell it is identical). Anyway, I am impressed with it so far. I am not the one to bother with meassuring actual FPS or temperature, but it runs FO3 for example on "high" (custom settings) at native 1440x900 very well.
I do use a cooler with it (Antec) and appart from the actual air exhaust area that gets warm to the touch the whole laptop stays cool.
I needed a laptop that can handle the games I want for at least 18 months, probably 24, and it seems this one will do that without a problem.
(Just FYI: I am planning on Sims 3, FO3, Dragon Age, Diablo III and maybe something else).
As someone pointed out the only bad things with this is the glossy fingerprint magnet casing and the noisy and slow-to-responde DVD reader / burner (It does it job, and when it gets going it's quick) -
Does anyone know what is the maximum memory amount? I read the official spec that is supports maximum of 4GB. Is it possible that it would work with 2x4GB?
