Hi everybody. I have Asus M50VM B2. It's almost new (only six days as i've just opened it). Yesterday i began to hear a small ultrasound from the left side of laptop. I cannot work normally because this sound "cuts" my ears. I have many versions about this sound: maybe it is cooler, or some troubles with power.
What can it be? Do I have to return this laptop to the shop, because in service-center they said it was normal sound from notebook....

Sorry but you need to clarify, what do you mean by "Ultrasounds"? And I'm not sure what you mean by "many versions: maybe it's cooler, or some troubles with power.".

I have the same exact laptop and have no issues with noise. This is the quietest laptop I've ever used.

Here is the Photo of the place from which i hear this ultrasound. What ultrasound? Haven't you ever heard a high-frequency sound, that "cuts" your ears? When I work in quiet office I always hear it.

    The fan noise?

A high frequency pitch like leaving a computer monitor on? As most people grow older they cannot hear such sounds as well.

I can hear high pitched whine sounds in a quiet environment. What I do is turn on another sound to block it out.. music or open a window etc. The sound of your laptop's fans will always generate some sort of sound unfortunately.

I hate to crash the party, but you're definitely not "hearing" ultrasound.

Perhaps this thread should be titled: Asus M50vm and high frequency sound.

    Just nit-picking. That is all.

FusiveResonance, everyone understood what i wanted to say.
P.S. Your post is offtopic because it didn't help me to solve my problem.

The fan is on the left side and the keyboard also provided some passage for the air intake for extra cooling. Try to put a silicon keyboard protector to prevent this noise.

No, clearly everyone "didn't" understand what you were trying to say, otherwise I wouldn't have asked you myself to clarify.

And as he said, "ultrasound" does not describe what you are hearing, so please try to clarify from now on.

Also, try to be respectful. The sound you are hearing is not normal, and should be repaired. I have nothing like that with my B2.

MadFerIt, i did not want to offend someone. I do really respect every user.
About this noise: In some days i will write a statement to change it for the new one. So, thanks everyone for your answers.

    sleep-walker,

you probably hear a high frequency noise which is generated by chips. I could hear such noise sometimes when I ran graphics intensive application (e.g. scrolling a view) on my old Asus notebook.
Try to find out when noise appears - this wil help you to find what is causing the noise.
You may have a problem at service center, because not everybody can hear high frequency sounds.

I've heard this sound before as well, I can't remember what I did to fix it... I also remember a high pitch sound coming from the speakers when the asus mouse was plugged in.
