After installing Windows 7 professional two problems occurred.
First: My cd drive doesnt work. I redled the driver, went on goggle to search it and did this patch thing, went on system admin but it doesnt work? Help?

second: i cant get my power thing (i forgot the name but it controls the different power options (power saving etc) to work. I install the program, but it doesnt show up. Is this just me or does anyone else have this?

The power management software from ASUS for Win7 is Power4Gear Hybrid.
You can download it from ASUS support website.

Have you already installed the latest ATK drivers for Win7?

You can download all the latest ASUS drivers and softwares from here also:

With repect to the CD drive, I would suggest try to install the Latest Intel INF Driver. It could be some problem with respect to the intel ICH9M controller not functioning properly.

On my M50VM I have no CD drive issues with Win7 Ultimate 64bit. I have a Blue-Ray drive (Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S) built in.
