2 days ago my computer decided it did not want to boot up. Last night while I was talking to an Asus tech, I had my laptop turned on and it ended up booting 10 minutes later. I used it for the last day trying to backup my data, etc and I did. Today I tried to turn it back on and all it does it make the 2 normal spin type noises and then nothing! I popped the drive out and tried it in my work laptop and did not have any issues with that, so the drive appears to be good.

Any other procedures I can try to determine which part(s) may be bad?

First take the battery out and unplug the AC power, let it sit for a minute. Then try powering it on again.

Try taking the memory out and using one stick at a time. Often if it powers on for a second or if nothing comes up on the screen, it can be bad memory.

If that gets you nowhere, you could have a problem with your video card, or your motherboard, and that would be harder to diagnose and fix.

If you can get it on at some point, hit F2 to get into the BIOS setup and reset to user defaults. If there is a reset hole labeled >o< on the bottom of your laptop, you can use that instead, if it won't power on, to reset the BIOS. Poke it with a paperclip and hold it down for 10+ seconds.
