Just got this machine a few days ago and Vista Home premium is already having serious networking problems and is amazingly unstable. I'm no rookie at installing OSs and slipstreaming drivers, and I'm trying to find the proper SATA drivers for this machine. I thought the ones I pulled from Asus were the correct ones ( http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M51Sn ) but apparently that is not correct, my XP install disc cannot recognize the drive.
I would rather not set the BIOS to 'compatibility mode' because I'd like to have the full benefit of the SATA interface, so does anyone know where I might find the actual SATA driver for XP for this machine? Any help would be much appreciated, this was going to be my weekend project and now I'm just going to be ticked off at my new machine that I can barely use as is![]()

There are many guides about slipstreaming SATA drivers, I'm sure they will contain links to drivers.
The perf drop is negligible in Compatible mode, so because it's much less hassle I really recommend that solution.
For other drivers, please check the Info Booth under XP Downgrade Guides. -
Actually slipsteaming is old hat for me, that's not the problem. I'm just trying to find the correct XP SATA drivers for the machine, which I seem unable to find even after spending hours perusing links offers in previous posts and some other areas of the 'net.

I just bought this laptop too and I'm planning to do the same.
Let me know if worked for you.

I did use that as a reference, however any of those drivers that work are also on the driver disc that came with the machine. Some of them didn't work at all on XP. I was able to get XP on the machine just fine, although I still have one "unknown device" that I cannot figure out what it is (even looking up the ID is vague). But it seems to work with the exception that I have to reboot every time I close out of a game as if I start one again I BSOD. I assume it's a video driver issue, and Im screwed, but still, rebooting is a small price to pay for having XP instead of Vista (*shudder*).
