I have in my M5N 512 RAM (256 uSoDIMM extension). From the beginnig for a few moths everything was OK and working smoothly. But... from some time I have lot BSOD in XP. So after a week of war with XP I reinstalled it... But... It did't help. [} :)]

After investigation my idea was that RAM was the cause of all my problems.
    So I run the "Memtest 3.1a" and "Memtest+ 1.30" programs (http://www.memtest86.com http://www.memtest.org ).

When I run both of them with option "Memory Sizing BIOS" set to "Std" or "All" program recoginzes up to 504 total RAM - the same amount as shows POST BIOS test.
With this settings all tests are passed. [ :D]

But... When I swith the "Memory Sizing BIOS" to "Probe" both programs reports in 99,99% of cases 512MB (only once happened to show 504MB) and then shows A LOT of memory errors in range above 504 MB. [xx(]

Here I ask all users of M5N with 512RAM or more [ :D] to try this "PROBE" option and confirm or not if this is a normal behavior of M5N or I have probably a faulty RAM chip.

PS: When I removed 256MB extension chip - no more BSOD in XP, all memory tests (options Std, All & Probe) shows 248MB and all test are passed. [?]

I think a minimum of 8megs of ram are dedicated to video. that's why it shows up as 504... so the tests of it running at 504 should be good i think. hope that helps

If the errors show up when the stick is in, but are gone when it's out, then the RAM module is the problem... [ :)]
    I'd get it replaced
