Anyone know if any of these universal Auto/Air/AC adaptors are compatible with the Asus M6? I've seen Targus, Kensington, and Belkin.

    Thanks.....Peter

Well, my Targus PAPWR300U is sorta working using tip 115. But this tip only puts out 16V - that's enough to operate the system but only enough to get a 33% charge on the main battery. It will also fully charge the secondary battery.

Btw, the tip 115 is supposed to be for the IBM Thinkpad A, R, T, and X series...

We need a tip that has compatible dimensions but puts out 19V. I'm going to email Targus and ask if they have such a tip.

Does anyone know what kind of power supply the L7000 uses? Targus lists that they have an L7000-compatible tip...

My mistake. The tip 116 is a 19V tip, and also fits. I'm using it now instead of tip 115.

This is good to know! The targus site only specifies "up to 120watts" for its output, it didn't specify voltage ranges.

    Update!....

I emailed Targus and got this response:

<blockquote id='quote'>quote:<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'>Thank you for contacting Targus Customer Support.

I am sorry but at this time we do not have a tip to support your Asus M6 line of notebooks. Customer feedback is important in developing new products. The tips are custom designed and tested on the supported computer models. In addition to the size and voltage requirements, the power supply logic board on the computer also impacts how the adapter functions with your notebook. We consider your investment in your notebook and the data stored there to be much more important than the sale of an AC Adapter, so we cannot recommend a tip for your device.

For the latest compatibility information, please check our configurator:

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

Maybe they are being overly conservative? Please post if you get a reply from them....

    Thanks...Peter

I got almost exactly the same reply from them.

Yes, I think they're being overly conservative, and it makes sense for them to do so - they don't want you suing them if something goes wrong and their adapter fries your expensive notebook.

With that said, I don't think there is any risk. The tip 116 is supposed to work for a Compaq Presario 2525 which expects a 19V, 90W power supply. It is certainly strong enough to handle the 19V, 65W demands of the M6N, and since I've measured the tip 116 actual output at only 18.8V, there is no danger of it putting out too much power and burning anything out.

So, I'm using this now. But if you decide to try this yourself and your notebook fries, don't come suing me, either. You've already got the warning from Targus, anything you do from here is your own responsibility... :p
