Hi all, I have an Asus M6V-S015H and it doesnt start up.
Today I´ve upgraded the RAM with 2*1GB DDR2-666MHZ.
The laptop started up and I passed memtest to check if the RAM was ok.
Two hours after, i pressed Esc but memtest freezes, I pushed the power botton to reboot the laptop.
Now the laptop start up with black screen, fan full and the HD led turned on.
I´ve dowgraded with the original RAM but the problem continues.
    Please people, help me.
    PS: sorry about my English.

Try re-seating your RAMs (take them out and insert them back hardly). Sometimes they are not seated properly which may cause problems...

You may try the No Post checklist in my Tips and Tricks.

What could have happened is that you "upset" some connections on the motherboard when you disassembled/switched the RAM. For instance, with an older motherboard that I had, on a desktop, after a while it got so that it didn't like me moving its RAM around.

You could also try swapping the 2 RAM chips if you have 2.

But, the first time when I turned on the notebook, it worked. It doesn´t work since I pushed the power button when memtest freezes.

I tried the old RAM but it doesn´t work...
Can I reset the CMOS? I´ve been searching the battery and the jumper, but ... without success.
    Thanks.

Yes, there is a button labeled > o < on the bottom of the notebook for resetting the CMOS.

Yes, it can work once and then not work. As mainboards and components get older, a lot of weird things behavior starts happening.

What I meant is swap the 2 old chips of RAM between the slots -- if you have 2.

Thanks but the problem still exists.
It may be possible to damage the motherboard when I put DDR2 800MHZ instead of 553MHZ?
    Thanks.

It is very unlikely but may happen though... Static charge on your body might have destroyed some vital parts of the motherboard unless you have discharged yourself...

Yep, that is a possibility. But just putting DDR2 800 should not cause any issues, it should be backward compatible.

Hi all, finally I sent my laptop to Asus RMA and the problem was the audio_MB.
The final cost for me was 106€ (new M6V AUDIO_MB, diagnostics+repair and transp costs).
    Thanks for your help.
