Another article with a better picture i like the looks of this notebook. Very entertainment like. -
And here is a 10 page thread on it

M60J, not G60J.
But anyway, Asus has a pretty decent article about both of them. Seems to be a bit more informative than either of those articles.

It seems this will only come with one display resolution 1366x768. This could be good for watching movies, but if I want to use it for work something like 1680x1050 would be better.
I hope asus will also offer i7 platform with a higher resolution configuration. -

It'll be interesting to see what other I7 notebooks from Asus that will emerge. -
man i dunno whether i want some ultrathin or the g51j now! but is it a typo or is there some new nvidia card called GTX 240m in the m60j (and no 1333mhz ram in the g51/60?)

As far as I remember the ASUS spec page for M60J mentions display is 16" HD (1366x768) Color-Shine (Glare-type).

Why isn't Asus putting 1600x900 screen? 16:9 ok if you want, but not 1366 damnit! That's way too low! I was very interested in this notebook but the screen kills it for me. It will be MSI GT640 or the new XPS 1645. I had faith in you Asus

This notebook is still sweet though(Yeah i know the screen is the greatest out there)
think about it like this at this Res you will be able to run games at high and medium for a long time to come. -
I am not looking for a gaming notebook, but rather to use it for work as a desktop replacement.
Gaming notebook would also be fine, but these models usually are very colorful and have lighting effects in addition to noisy fans which is nothing that I would like to used in office.
My current M50vm is also multimedia notebook with 1680x1050 display, and I find it as a good desktop replacement.
My work requires me to do many simulations including Matlab and I am keeping an eye on ASUS new i7 line up to replace my current notebook until beginning of 2010.
I need something with higher resolution not just 1366x768.
No offense to my gaming brothers\sisters. I am also a gamer, but for that I have myself built a powerful desktop PC at home.

Turbo, I see what you are saying. I think there is still hope. I also think this notebook will sell well, if it does(Which in my mind again i definitely think it will) we may see higher res options later on.
There is a long time for Asus to do something for you, because as you states you are waiting till the beginning of 2010(like me)
On a side note, WOW the build seems to be really solid take a look:
-
At work the higher resolution is better. Actually, I have my notebook pluged all the time to 1900x1200 resolution monitor in my office.
But when working in the lab than I have to use the notebook display.
I hope ASUS will also release i7 refresh for M50-series as this line was always offered with different resolution screens.

The shader scores are weak. It managed 7900 because of the CPU. -

Look at the vid i posted in gaming forum.
Still pretty good. I personally would still take the 4670 instead. But they go neck and neck. -

Does this design look awesome or what? I really like it, it is probably one of the best Asus design notebooks i've seen in a while. Asus, make a gaming notebooks using these materials, lol.
On another note Asus is saying a lot about these Altec Lansing speakers they claim its really good. Well at least it looks good so farBe interesting to hear how they sound
-
Cant see those.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Really? i see them perfectly fine....anyone else having problems?
-
I can't see them either.

Looks like a netbook in the first picture you posted Red Dragon...
-

Yeah, thats because that was a far out/small picture.
-
Not a fan of touch sensitive control but that's a sweet notebook, can't wait for the pricing to be out!
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hm, this should be priced like the N61. So i will go on record, and say $1200. Even with the i7 and GT240. Though that is just an estimate i have been pretty good at guessing Asus prices so far.
