There are plenty of reviews on the M6 series already, might be worth your while reading a few of those.
Also those models numbers will differ depending on where you come from. For eg, in Australia where I got my M6Ne, it came in 3 varietys, 15.1 XGA, 15.4 XGA and 15.4 SXGA,
every country seems to name them slightly different, so this maybe of no help.

Anyway, I am pretty happy with my M6Ne, it has had a few issues, like faulty GPU, and the hdd got corrupted but ingeneral it has performed v.well, and issues that I did have were fixed quickly by ASUS.
Some users had some issues with strange fan behaviour, this seemed to be related to bios version, but each notebook also seemed to operated differently on each bios so most users did a bit of trial and error to find a bios that suited. For me that was 205, others have found 206, 207, or 208 to be good, but they were no good fo me.
Apart from that I cant remember to many other major complaints.
A year down the track and my M6Ne is still going strong, there is a bit of an issue with part of the screen casing on the right hand side coming slightly apart but this is minor at this stage and if it gets worse I still have a year left on warranty.

I've heard and seen the same thing. The issue actaully revolved around screws that would loosen up over time.... You might not think to do preventative maintenance on your computer, but screws do loosen.

The issue occurs only when these screws loosen and stay that way for a long time... time enough for them to almost pop out of the screen. With that, there has been enough force to crack the lid when opening the lid hard.

However, I've only seen and heard of this a handful of times in the last year and a half of selling this model and I think worldwide this is at worst Asus' 2nd best selling model since it's release..... It's not something that can't be fixed... a new lid is maybe $40.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    M6800Ne. (15.1" screen)

Well, I can say that this is a great machine... however, it has had weird fan issues (not turning off/on at the right temps). Note even BIOS updates fixed that... but with Centrino Hardware Control, it's a non-issue now.
The vertical viewing angles are quite bad... I find myself adjusting the LCD screen several times a day to reach the sweet spot.
Left palm rest is pretty warm... (hard drive area).
Mine came with 2 dead(stuck) pixels...but I've become so used to them that I barely even see them now. Since it's an SXGA+ screen, it's difficult to notice them anyway... people who use my notebook don't notice it.

    Overall, a great notebook.

Well that is one issue that isn't going to be one anymore, since the US model of the M6 (z70) only use widescreen and the great update is finally a WSXGA+ screen in the dedicated graphics version.

I'm pretty sure the newest bios took care of that fan issue, but if anyone would know it would be you since you've seen the same posts I have in here about it.

    Thanks,
    Justin
