This is simple: I just want to know, what kind of drives, harddisks etc. are compatible with my Asus M6Ne laptop.

"Just send the laptop to us, and we'll fix it". That's what they say at the store where I bought it. They gotta be kiddin'.
It must be possible to find out by myself.

Where do I get that information? Is there some kind of compatibility chart?

Especially, I'm interested in knowing what kind of DVD-burner I can put in my Asus M6Ne, since the one (Toshiba) that's in there doesnt really work properly.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Its not a big secret, its just that different drives are used depending on the supply at the time. I quick read of a few posts would uncover this info.
You shouldnt have any issues installing any of the major brand Hdd, these are all pretty much stock....although you may want to check that you get an ide not serial drive. The M6ne as far as I can remember doesnt support s-ata.
As for burners, the problem isnt if a new drive will work or not but the external triming, which is attched to the toshi drive, thus any new drive will not have this and look pretty ugly in the laptop.

If you want an alternative optical drive, the Liteon SOSW-852 is a compatible alternative to the Toshiba-Samsung TSL-532A. The face plate fits no problem. The Liteon is not 8X at both +R and -R but seems to be better behaved. I've had one running in my W3A for many months.

I suspect that some, maybe most, of the other 1/2" optical drives have compatible face plate mountings. Variations make it more hassle for computer manufacturers to use multiple sources.

Be nice if that happened though it makes it harder to put the sexy curves on the notebook.
