I been searching for a 15.4" screen notebook under 6 pounds for a while, and found that Asus M6v has mostly all i'm looking for (under 6lb, Centrino, non shared video card, good build quality, and it stays on my budget 1400-1600)

Then in the news, the updated version of the M6 (the Z70) is coming soon with 2 great improvements, WSXGA+ and Sonoma(although i found a sonoma M6v, don't know if it has PCI-e).

    three questions:

Is the Z70 going to be black or at least from the material that the M6 is built of?

Is the Z70 staying under 6lb?

    Is a good deal to get a Sonoma M6V for 1600 with 512Mb Ram | DVDRW+- | 80gb HDD 5400 | WXGA (non glossy) | Sonoma 1.86ghz and 1 year guaranty - - OR - - Wait for Z70V ?????

Need help cause the deal wont last forever

The M6v and Z70v are the exact same notebook........... however, there are some features of the M6v that may or may not follow through to the Z model which is a barebone...... namely the screen.... I'm not sure what they are using worldwide on the ensemble model, but I believe it's the same screen they are using on the V6v (for the 15.1" SXGA+ model) and the new W1 (15.4" WSXGA+) ... becasue these three models all have the zero dead pixel policy from Asus.....

The barebone model will not have this policy and may not have this screen.

Now, where are you? Becasue you're obviously not in the states, becasue if you are...... there isn't a M6v here and won't be till July.... and even then.. it'll be called the Z70v...... So, this has to be a complete "Asus" branded model and you have to be in Europe some place for this model to even be available yet........

I just want to make sure because I wouldn't be surprised if people were selling current M6 models in that way.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Right... ok, so it's not an M6v...... it's an M6bne.... nothing special about it... I'd say compare prices around... but for us, we don't use anything under 512mb sticks of Corsair... and don't use under a 5400rpm hard drive, and have a standard 2 year warranty, only use XP Pro, etc.... so I couldn't compete with what they are doing if you are looking for that low of a spec...

But on a whole......the Z70v isn't supposed to get the "color shine" screen....... the graphics will be marginally better...... aside from that, the only bonus is an aluminum touchpad surround like the M5..... But you're going to wait until the begining of July for that one.

They claim they have a WSXGA screen, but the res they spec is WXGA.... WSGA M6's never came to the states.. so just be aware it's at the very least an honest typo... may be there on purpose to mislead... who knows.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Justin, check this site and use the customize button and you will see the sonoma
And, by the way the model is a Asus M6BNe

    http://www.adamant.com/systdefault.asp?GotoID=SYS&Systid=SYS-NB-251&menu=SYSTEMS

i can wait a little longer, if it's worth it (Glossy, PCI-e, Video DJ, ect)

I live in Dominican republic, but im going to buy the laptop in the US

One thing, Is the Z70 keeping the price range of the Z71 or M6 series, if not, by how much is going to suprass it?
