I have an M70 and whenever I turn the computer on (not from a standby) there is a loud and pretty annoying start-up sound. It still plays even when I have headphones plugged in or if the mute is on. There must be an option somewhere to turn it off. Does anyone know?

In bios there is probably an option.
The G50V is a similar machine so dunno if it will have the same options but my bios has 2 settings.
One is "Play post sound" and its enabled or disabled
the other is sound volume 0-8
If you just turn the sound volume down to like 1 I think it will be near silent. I tried to put the post sound to disabled and it also killed all sound in Windows... I found this out the hard way after spending over 30 min uninstalling and reinstalling my sound drivers and messing with every audio control panel option known to man, it said everything was enabled and working but I had no sound. It took a while to connect the dots that I just turned off my post sound and that it had to be the reason.
Maybe setting a volume of 0 and leaving the sound enabled would work too. -
There's an option to disable the startup sound in the BIOS(by pressing F2 when you see the Asus logo).
