Hmm.. so I guess this question goes out to Justin:
Do you think they'll be shipping this (or a barebone version of it) to North America?
-
Interesting.
I wonder what speed the DVD RW will be.
If it's as fast ast the w3v, I may have to wait for this baby to see if they've solved the speed problem.
So, what are the differences with the w3v?
Weight: this one seems to be a pound lighter
Screen: standard aspect, rather than widescreen.
Anything else? -

I'm curious what the heck you're talking about? Since you started talking about the dvd drive... is that what the rest of the blurp is about? If that's the case... EVERY Asus system (minus the super slim models) use the SAME drive....... There's nothing wrong with their speed....... otherwise we'd have 10's of 1,000's of people compaining about them..
Oh... and this was one of the units I was confusing the W6a with..... but I still think some of the numbers are wrong there...... it's most likely got a 64mb dedicated with 196mb allowed for hypermemory.... What gets me though is the dimensions and weight recall a smaller V6.... so I'd think it would be in the "V" Series....... Something just isn't meshing here......... but with the thickness 0.8"... it's no doubt a super slim drive and the reason they don't have a speed on it is because 4x dual layer should available before they bring the unit out. However super slim production is so screwed up and they know that... so keeping it to saying "dvd burner" for now is probably a good move.
This will no doubt be an ensemble with those specs.......... expect a watered down version as a barebone.... but again, Asus isn't really considering bringing in any more new models till after January. -
intersting, that looks like a perfect fit for me.. oh well cant wait till jan.
-
wouldn't this model be in direct competition with the w3v? or is this a 4:3 ratio notebook?
-
Yea, it doesn't seem right in my opinion...
What's up with the weird max RAM? -

No... ummm sort of like the V6v is a shrunken version of the M6 series (even though the z70v is widescreen... follow me because internationall it's either or)...... but this model would be more like a shrunken, thinner version of the M3 series (z61a) ....
I'm supposed to tell everyone not to expect anything till at LEAST January at this point....... so we'll see what happens. -
-
hmmm at least january that means...hmmm...carry the one multiply by 4...yeah probably march or late february
arent dual core lappys gonna start showing up by then?

haha ... maybe.. try to be optimistic.
-
looks like pics are up at asus global website!
-
I don't know about you, but that reminds me of a gateway...
Oh look! A notebook within a notebook within a.....window -
Looks sweet... if the price is right, that'll definitely be the notebook for me!

I'm a little disappointed that it only has the option of a XGA screen... SXGA+ would be nice (like on a Thinkpad)
