A2 - $800
For awhile I was regretting getting the 1000H when I saw the pics/specs on these but after seeing the price I feel better![]()
-
I'm waiting for this to show up on Ebay. Then I'm going in with the live.com deal.
-
Thats a good idea, hopefully the 30% live is still active, that would drop $200 off the price.
-
-
Gentechpc also has them in stock now and their prices are more competitive than newegg's.

In stock now boys! If you have a paypal account and live, get 30% cashback.
30% cashback is STILL AVAILABLE as of this posting!
All questions on this deal reference this thread:

The thing about the 30% cashback is that you have to wait 2 months before you get the "cash back" By that time, the prices on the N10 may have dropped. This actually happened to the G50 when it first came out. There's also a HUGE amount of ebay sellers exploiting this promotion by selling items more than the MSRP
-
From that ebay listing it shows that a 9 cell is available, I wonder if it would work with the 1000H
-
The N10E and N10J (A1/A2) have been available on GenTechPC (gentechpc.com) for quite a while now. I'd get them there, since the prices are $25 cheaper, too.
-
-
That makes no sense. Regardless of whether (as the previous poster suggested) you get $200 in two months, the fact of the matter is if you're looking for an N10J NOW...the ebay live deal is the best currently going. There's no way around it. -
-
whats live?
-
However, if you didn't mean to quote my post, thats fine. -
edit - I'm currently exchanging emails with someone from GentechPC in regards to listing on ebay and taking advantage of that part of the market. Yes, THAT GentechPC. -
Woot, just got a response from Gentech that they're going to list some merchandise on ebay as well!
Woot! -

Haha I was thinking about asking them to do that but did not know if they would. Still I would get an EEE 1000H with 30% back rather than than the N10.
-
(If it is, please let me know, so then I can attack you back. Though I doubt the mods would be pleased about it.)
As for eBay and reliability - if you know what you're doing, then its fine. If not, you can get screwed. I was unaware about Excalibur and Gentech being on there. As you might be able to imagine, I don't spend a whole lot of time on eBay looking at laptops. -
If you want to "attack" lol, have fun bro. -
-
I'd prefer no attacks, actually.
-
want to wait with a enhanced atom processor, 2Ghz maybe????
-
With the Atoms, I'm not so concerned about clock speed as I am about a dual core Atom. If it was dual core, I'd go for it instantly, but none of the netbooks seem to have a dual core atom. Double the power draw and more heat output kills it, I suppose.
-
would the current atom be comparable to the original core duo vs the core 2 duo? i know that my w3j was before c2d.
-
The current 1.6GHz Atom is supposedly almost on par with the ULV 1.2GHz Pentium M and the 1.06GHz ULV Core Solo. So I highly doubt it could come anywhere near a 1.83GHz/2GHz Core Duo processor (those were the two CPU options on the W3J).

I hear the dual core atom is supposed to go in desktops, not netbooks.
Intel is rather picky about what they do with there products, thus why the N10 has a low end nvidia card in there instead of a high end integrated like the x4500 -
I thought the concept of the Atom was superb cooling/power consumption whilst sacrificing power. I don't understand what purpose it would serve as a desktop chip. -
There is a dual core atom, the Atom 330, but it's currently only a desktop chip. Haven't heard any rumors for an N version of the same chipset.
It's the upgrade to the Atom 230s, which is the desktop equivalent of the N270 mobile processor. The new processors have new motherboards, too, so the wait begins for the new mobile platform. Asus has been dropping hits about dual core atoms later this year, and since their lineup is mostly notebooks, I'd imagine there's something coming. -
can you all give me more information on this 30% for live. What is this and how do I sign up to get me a n10 and 30% back.
-
nevermind if found the link on the first page. great deal.

Dont forget there will be other N series units, that could fit the bill better.
The N20 is going to be a 12" I think, has an optical drive and should be much cheaper than the U6V. I think the N series is supposed to be the cheap line similar to the Dell Volstro vs the Standard Dells. -
Edit:
The 30% cashback is onley for US residents -

Id assume the same graphics card, but I dont know.
It almost definitely wont have the x4500 as thats under intel control. -
Maybe you're in luck -
Apparently, the N series will also replace the F series. There will be a N20 (12"), N80 (14") and N50 (15"), but there's no word yet on what GPU if any the newer N series will have.

I highly doubt the Atom CPU will be sufficient for the 2 games you mentioned. As for changes, the U6V is the latest refresh with Centrino 2, which came out just a month or two ago (It came out after the M50 and F8 refresh as I recall).
-
-
I'm sure you'll be extremely happy with the U6V as I am with mine
Everything about it is just so elegant, even the packaging screams luxury. The LED screen is also amazingly awesome which boasts 300 nits of brightness. I've been using this notebook for a couple weeks now, and I haven't found anything I don't like about it (yet). -
Asus N10J is now available on Newegg
