Hello All,
I had just recently purchased (1/18) a N53SV-A1 from Amazon, and am going to return it as a result of the Intel 6 series flaw. As such, I'm looking to buy another laptop.
One thing I was surprised by was the lack of the plastic screen protector present in the n53/n73 j series laptops. (The laptop screen has a plastic overlay on the screen that makes the entire screen portion of the laptop screen flat). Does anyone know if this feature is in a different version of the Sandy Bridge N53's? or even the N43's? Or was it dropped completely from the N series?
Another question - Do all the N43's have a european style keyboard layout? (the 7-shaped enter key, and the \ key near the Z)
Thanks!

Keyboards should be localised to the markets the laptops are sold in, I expect - i.e. a US edition should have a US layout keyboard. Or, if you buy one without the sort of keyboard you want, swapping is easy. I replaced the Portuguese keyboard mine had with a US layout keyboard I got from here.

Thats what I thought, but all the pictures i've seen of the n43 have that european layout. Good to know I can replace the keyboard though.
I'm actually really interested in whether there is a screen protector on any model other than the n53jf - if there isn't, I might just try to get asus to send a replacement rather than return the unit to amazon. -
Can't help you there, I've never seen an N43, picture or "in the flesh", with a flush screen, though that doesn't mean there aren't any. However, I have seen some pictures of N53J units without the flush screen, and if I recall correctly I even saw one on a retailer's shelf - if the J* models exist in the wild with both flush and indented screens, maybe that's still the case for the S* revision.
