Hi all
Aplogies up front if I'm repeating anothers post.
I'm looking pretty hard at the above laptop (I found it on xoticpc). It seems to offer quite alot for the money (9650GT + Blue Ray + LED screen + seemingly good warranty) all for around 1500.
I've never bought a "games capable" laptop before and don't really like or want a 17" monster. I also don't want an orange trim laptop with a screen I need to squint at (wxga+) at for everyday use. But I was wondering if anyone could help me understand "what to expect" from the performance of such a machine.
For example, what might happen with a game like Crysis if set to 1400*900 but lower settings - would it be capable of playing it all? I completely understand that it can't do UWGA at max settings of course.
There's a short return window by xoticpc - but figured I'd try to get some opinions.

Are you planning on using the laptop as a Blu-ray player for your TV? Because Blu-ray's 1920x1080 resolution would be down-converted to your LCD's resolution. I think it's better to buy a dedicated Blu-ray player for your TV anyways, it's cheaper (especially on Black Friday).
Also, only the 1280x800 screen is LED, the 1440x900 screen is CCFL.
Something else to consider about using your laptop's blu-ray for the TV - every single NVIDIA based card I tried using in my HTPC has failed miserably. Overscan issues, underscan issues, bad driver support, flickering displays, fuzzy text, and just tons of problems. This is a warning to everyone out there, use ATI cards if you're planning to hook up to the TV. -
Note only the WXGA screen the lower end ASUS N series comes with LED backlight.

huh, maybe it's a websit error - because there showing LED with 1440*900
Nah, was really just looking for onboard movies, no real intentions of hooking to a TV. Don't mind the downconversion on the laptop either. -
Which website are you looking at? There is a post somewhere regarding this misunderstanding. I know for sure that the official website list only the WXGA screen as LED backlit.
GentechPC used to list the WXGA+ screen as LED lit but has since removed it.
