    Hey all,

Anyone have any in-depth resources on this model? I was originally considering the Sager NP5125 but after discovering this little gem have GOT to find out more. I know that certain models will have the nVidia GT 425M and others are sticking with the GT 335M. How do those two compare? Any ideas on availability?! Does its touchpad support two-finger scrolling and all that jazz?

I saw that XoticPC is already offering one but it didn't list the i5 options or the HD screen.

    Need more info!

EDIT - Links from another post for anyone interested:

    1. N53JF: i3/i5/i7 dual core, GT 425M, Optimus, Optional FHD
    2. N53JN: i3/i5/i7 dual core, GT 335M, Optimus, Optional FHD
    3. N53JQ: i7-720QM, GT 425M, No Optimus, Optional FHD

Looks great only problem is I know nothing about the Nvidia 425M.
Overall it looks like a pretty solid laptop.

In reference the the video cards, the 425m will only preform a little faster than the 325m. It may have a few more features though. Look at the 210m and the 310m: 210m 3dmark06: 3338. 310m 3dmark06: 3500. 310m may have a few extra features. (e.g: HD video processing etc) I'm hijacking a Linksys router while on the road, so I can't do in depth research.

True, but the 210M and 310M are both based on the exact same technology, while the 400 series should be based on the new Fermi architecture and so should perform better. However, since Nvidia has changed their numbering system, I'm not sure how much better the 425M is likely to be over the 335M.

Ya, I'm thinking at least 500 points higher in 3dmark06. Maybe up to 1500 points.

I have searched high and low on the internet for over a month and have not found anything on the GT 425M. Nothing on NVidia's website.

for me is it either this or the Acer Aspire 5943G

Its a perfect laptop and I'm interested for N53JN (dual core i5, GT 335, 4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, USB 3.0, Optimus, Full HD screen), ONLY IFF I can configure it with Full HD screen :D

Asus is RIDICULOUS as they have promised Full HD on N53JQ, but as its already available for order at resellers like XoticPC, GenTechPC, ExcaliberPC etc ... are NOT offering Full HD screen for this baby :(

So DO NOT expect/assume that Asus will keep their words :D

True enough. I'd never order anything without a product actually being available and reading an -ton of reviews. I don't really get the whole "order before you know anything" deal. I'll be waiting patiently until we know more!

Well, as of now, they list the N53Jv with FHD option here... ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Notebooks - N53Jn

Its got every spec on my wish list except the 6300 wireless card. I was also contemplating the Sager NP5125, but the reviews say the internal speakers are mediocre at best, which is a showstopper for me. Plus the FHD option is backordered.

    Here's to waiting patiently :)

Asus had listed all variants of N5 JQ, JF, JN but from yesterday they have removed JQ and JF versions from their global site. Again, Asus lists the models with Full HD at their site but those were not actually offered by resellers. For example for JQ model which is already available for order has Full HD option but none of the resellers are offering Full HD for the same.

Argh. This is starting to annoy me. I want a concrete answer as to the FHD options on these bad boys.

I also wonder why the N73 is available on Newegg but not the N53. As well, the N73 seems to have the wedge-style keyboard as opposed to the chiclet-style that I saw on the N53 video overview. I assumed they would basically have the same keyboard.

I wonder if we'll have to wait for the full info on the Geforce 400 series GPU's until they unleash the N53's. I'd love to know more about the GT 425 and how it compares to the 335.

It's so hard to wait around for information when I want to order ASAP! GRRRRRRRRR.

You can order Sager NP5125 if you can't wait like me. Things I'd lose is probably superb quality speaker, but heck my sennheiser earphone already satisfy me than any laptop speaker.

Haha yeah I'm almost in an identical boat with my Sennheiser CX-300's. I'll always have those plugged in or my speakers rocking.

It's not so much the Bang and Olufsen speakers as much as I'm interested in the general build quality of the N53 vs. the NP5125. Are Sagers generally more solid than Asus builds?

I was waiting on the N53JN/JQ as well Bubba, but it seems like if the N61 is a better machine if were looking at the N53JQ. The video card is much better in the N61 and it is almost the same notebook once you do not mind the brown lid.

    Dilema.

I liked the feel of the keyboard and touch pad, the silver top and large long speaker looks nice. I didn't like the thick glossy black border around the screen not enough to stop me getting the laptop though.
I'm not a gamer but do occassionally convert windows tv recordings into mp4/avi will this laptop be up to the job ?
    Thanks

God knows when it will be available in USA with Full HD screen option.

Simply do not understand if they can sell it in Australia why not in other countries, any restrictions in other countries ??? Its beyond my understanding of their business trick/model.

If you've seen this preview of it you'll see it's a 1366x768 screen. I know that the Asus site lists it as an option but I don't know it it'll actually happen or not.

YouTube - Asus N53Jn - preview Laptop Review Shop

Regardless, my NP5125 order is already in :D Can't frakkin' wait!

So I called Asus (USA) because I am getting so anxious and wanted to take a break from studying and they said:

    - Price ranges from $999 to $1200
    - JQ/JF models with option for FHD
    - Will come out between now until November

Nothing that hasn't been mentioned before, but at least it's something to ease the impatient such as myself. Ahhhhhhhhh!

If I may, a quick question. I'm looking for a new laptop in the range of the N43Jf, and I'm trying to figure out why there's a $200 difference between it and the Acer AS4820TG? The specs seem almost identical - NVidia GT425M vs. HD5650, the N43JF has a slightly larger HDD, but other than that, it's the same processor, same resolution screen, etc.

What am I missing here? (Other than the fact that the N43JF is actually in stock, as opposed to the AS4820TG which appears to be completely unavailable anywhere...)

Look at the n82jv versus the n43jf, the only real difference is the graphics card (NVidia 335m v. NVidia 425m)

Who knows? The n43jf is newer, which is why its $150 more than the n82jv on amazon right now. So it might just be based on how new it is.
