I just love my Asus laptop and yesterday it suddenly stopped working after few years doing it very well.

    What happens:

    1) I turn it on
    2) The fan spins very fast and cold air can be felt coming from the ventilator opening
    3) Nothing appears on the screen and it shuts down after exactly 5 seconds

Tested with and without battery, tested the RAM modules, replaced the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU. Nothing seem to help.
When I connect the laptop to an external monitor, also nothing will be seen on the screen.

What do you think is the problem here, and how can it be solved ? I am out of warrantee.

Since you have already reseated the heatsink with no improvement, it seems to me that the problem might lie with a bad CPU or BIOS. You could try replacing the motherboard, but it probably wouldn't be worth it. The good news is that you may be in the market for a new laptop!

    Thanks for your answer :)

Could it be, that the problem is related to the GPU ? That it needs a reflow or recall ?

Just turned the laptop on again, and now it stays on. Still no video and fan still keep running very fast.
