Hi guys im having a problem with my new Asus N53SV. Its a core i7 and 6Gb Ram. Its quite fast when using and shutting down (about 5s). However when i turn it on, it takes a minute or more to be ready to use. It takes most of the time from win 7 logo to welcome screen. I restarted an Asus K52 and K72 before in a store and they just took 30s. Just wondering that if its the result of Fastboost or what? Also i tried to untick some unnecessary application in start up but it just doesnt help. I think its because of the laptop or the factory install cause i already had a problem with the volume hot key as the factory driver sucks. Hope you guys have a solution for my problem.
    Cheers

Do you have any network shares mapped to drive letters? Those can cause significant slowdowns if there are configuration or communication problems.

Did you do a web search for "windows 7 slow welcome screen"? I found this right off the bat: Slow Login, Welcome screen "hangs" for 30 seconds before desktop appears

It suggests a few things. There are lots of others.

Well actually its slow from the 'starting windows' part ( when the logo comes up) to the welcome screen. The welcome screen may take about 5-10s. I can tell that when the logo comes up its quite slow.So yeah from the logo to the welcome it takes around 30s. And also i dont use the solid background that may cause this slowness :(

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if it is driver related?

Personally my money is on the drivers.

Or check to see if you have CD/DVD in the drive, it slows boot time too.
