Just got an Asus N550JK-DS71T yesterday. Great in every respect so far except one annoyance: occasionally I notice the screen's colors shift slightly, like the laptop's color temperature adjusts. I think it typically corresponds to when I change which app is on the foreground or if I load a new app. These are routine productivity/internet apps, not anything intensely graphical or games where you would expect color temperature changes.
I also recall that when I turned it on for the first time, early in the initial Windows 8 setup finalization (where you enter laptop name, etc.), I noticed the brightness adjust briefly a couple of times. I dismissed it as the video drivers likely installing or adjusting things for the first time.
Is this normal? I came from a 2011 HP Envy 14. I never experienced random color temperature changes or shifts on that or any other PC, all with the same apps.

Just noticed something: if I open the Calibrate Color utility ( Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display) and hit Next, I get the same type of color shift. While I expect this shift in that app, because its purpose is to calibrate colors, I am not expecting it in any other apps.

I'm assuming that > 100 views and no responses means this is not a normal experience?

Do you have Asus Splendid software installed (remove it if you do)?
