    Hello, everyone.

I'm planning on purchasing an Asus N550JK and would like to upgrade the hd to an ssd drive along with upgrading from the preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro and would like to know the best method for accomplishing this. The options that I'm currently considering are as follows:

    1. Install the new ssd and then perform a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro
    2. Upgrade the preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro, transfer the OS to the new ssd, and then install the new ssd

Any additional options or input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Step 1 is the best way to do it. That way you avoid running into issue from cloning a HDD to SSD.
