So I *think* I've resolved this issue but would love some opinions as to what might have caused it as I'm trying to sell this laptop and want to give a buyer peace of mind

I bought this laptop in 11/11 and recently I've started having an issue with it randomly shutting off completely without warning. To restart, I had to take out the battery, unplug it, discharge all power by pressing the on button, and then it would come back up with no issues. I thought it might be a problem with the off-brand battery I added a couple of months ago so I switched back to the stock battery and it still happened. It was very infrequent, maybe once every 12 hours of use, and happened under light and heavier loads, and both while plugged in and on battery power.

Last week I opened it up, cleaned out the dust, and then did a clean install of Windows 7. It hasn't shut off on me since, over about eight hours of use (bought new laptop so haven't done much with this one since I finally got the OS and drivers completely updated). Any ideas what might have caused the issue here? I'm having trouble researching it because most info I find is for just a random shut down that didn't require discharging residual power. Thanks!
