Hi, I came across a laptop of my friend who bought this ASUS N55SF machine just a week ago. the configuration of this machine is core i5 with 6gb of ram and has got nvidia GT 635M GPU.

This machine performance is really excellent. i ran 3DMark06 with the highest resolution and got the point of 10413 where as i get 11013 in my G53SX with GTX 560M GPU. I feel really ashamed.

whatever the problem is when we have been trying to install skype in the machine got an error message which said "Error: Unfortunately the Skype executable is corrupted. Please re-install". has there anyone ever come across of this weird problem? how to solve it??? i have been searching on google, but didn't really find any solution and also one more thing.. when i have been to nvidia website to check the latest driver..i couldn't see any 600M series. which product series would be mine??? Please someone help me...

The 600M GT series has just been released recently, it will take a while (like it happened in the past with my 445M GT) before they will post a compatible Asus drivers on the Nvidia website.

You can download the nvidia drivers for his 635M GT, from laptopvideo2go website:

    v290.69 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | ASUS Mobile - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

    or

    http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/29209-v29573-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia-oem-mobile/

If the Skype file is corrupted, its very likely you have a bad download. Get it again from here:

Thanks for your reply. It's not bed download. I downloaded it from the website you have recommended. It conflicts with the GPU..once nvidia driver is not installed it works with built in graphics card. Thats why i said...it"s a kind of weired problem..anyone else owner of this machine having problem with skype installing?

    Hi!

We have a few of the N series displays in store so I decided to try and install Skype.

    However, it didn't work

So I went HERE: Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once and created a new passive installer and it worked fine.

Also, NVIDIA will have proper Verde drivers when Kepler is actually released :)

I've now managed to overcome the NVIDIA conflict with Skype. Definitely no thanks to any "support" from NVIDIA. Typical robotic support where real people don't seem to exist.
Rant over, so here's my solution:
Ensure that there is no Skype version on your system (uninstall).
Go to Control Panel / Device Manager / NVIDIA Driver.
    Double click on "settings".
    Click "Disable"
Download Skype, which will now install OK.
Then go back to Device Manager / "Change Settings" / click "enable".

You should be up and running now. :)

I thought I had it solved. Everything was working OK then Skype switched off and i got the corrupted message again. So I disabled the NVIDIA driver and Skype is working again. Seems like you can have one switched on without the other but not both at the same time. But at least i can now make the choice

I have an Asus N55SL laptop with Nvidia GT 635 M and Windows 7 64 bits.
Following advice from Mancman I was able to install Skype; but if I enable the Nvidia card again, I have same message "executable corrupted".
The only way to run Skype is with Control Panel :Device Manager:Graphic cards:Nvidia(disable). Not with Nvidia Control Panel nor with right click on the Skype icon choosing "execute with integrated graphics". Howto?

Hey don't know if you still need some advise about that, but if you will turn off your nvidia GT 635M in device manager skype will install normaly, but after reboot you'll need to turn it of again to run skype.
So every time you want to run skype you should switch it off and after you did run the skype you can turn it back on.
If there is another way to solve that problem, please let me know

And one more thing, i runned Skype in compatibility mode for windows xp sp3 and with as administrator mode and the problem with running was solved so if you don't care how does it work in windows xp mode or in win 7 you can fix it like that
