Hi all,
I've got an Asus N56VZ which has Windows 8, and I gather they've put the serial on a chip and made it all awkward like Windows wasn't user unfriendly enough already.
Anyway, I'm trying to switch to an SSD, for which I believe I need some kind of recovery media. The recovery utility on the laptop suggested I make a USB recovery stick, which I did. So I boot up using the USB stick and it takes me into this troubleshooter type thing. But when I try to install the factory default version of windows using the 'Reset my PC' option, it says "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing."
Any ideas what I should do?
Thanks

2. What OS were you installing? If it's going to be Win7, then please make sure to disable Secureboot & UEFI boot (to legacy boot), then reinstall again. -

You can also create an image of the entire current drive and transfer that to the new drive. That should carry over your OS install, as well as the factory image on the other partition.
