Hi, I am the happy owner of an Asus N56DP, but it comes with Windows 8 Standard and I would like Hyper-V so an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro is mandatory (as far as I know).

Now my question if I buy the upgrade from Microsoft would it mess up my installation? I'd rather keep everything in place and just upgrade from standard to pro.

No, the migration/upgrade is seamless and won't harm your current programs nor your data. It's good practice to do a backup anyway prior to the upgrade, but that's no insinuation that you will have issues. In a perfect world, everyone would backup routinely. :)

And yes, for Hyper-V, Pro edition is required.

Are you referring to what I think you're referring to? ;) I still haven't received any additional info, but we should know by next week!
