OK, I bought the Asus N56JR-MH71 a little more than 6 months ago, and I love it. But I want to upgrade the HDDs to SSDs. The only problem is I'm not sure what it uses. I've been trying to figure out what HDD it is. I went to look up the specs for it on multiple sites but all it says is "750 HDD", but when I go into "My Computer", it shows that I have 2 HDDs.

My C: drive is 279 GB, which is my OS drive and my D: drive is 398 GB.

So I'm really confused about this. Some help would be much appreciated.

What you're seeing is the one drive split into two partitions; one for the operating system (Windows) and programs, and the other partition for data. You should have a another partition hiding for the Asus recovery software.

What you can replace the drive with is any SATA SSD (nearly all SSDs are SATA). Since SSDs are small by design, you don't have to worry about the specifics of the physical dimensions; current drives conform to the 2.5" standard and are very short in height as well.

Recommended brands: Samsung, Intel, and sometimes Kingston or Crucial.
