Hey all, I'll cut to the chase. Asus N56VJ has stopped working. Basically I hold the power on button, power light and power indicator LED come on, closely followed by the HDD activity light. Half a second later the HDD activity light will go off, closely followed by the power light and indicator LED. Dead. Nothing posts on the screen during any of this.

Pulled the laptop apart (no warranty), and discovered that when I remove the RAM, power will stay on, HDD activity cuts out soon enough but I'm guessing that's just because there's nothing for it to do. Again, nothing posts on the scree. As soon as I put a stick of RAM back in (after completely removing the laptop from power of course), I'm back to the original problem. I know its not my RAM sticks as I've tried every combination of slot and stick configuration, and I've even tried pulling a stick of DDR3 from my wife's laptop and trying it but still powers off.

Is my laptop dead or does anybody have some suggestions?

    Regards,
    Jacob
