I just bought a Asus n56vm and i installed my SSD, but the performance of this laptop really dissapoints me. It cant even run Heroes of Newert or Dota 2 on all low settings in 1920x1080 smooth.

I've reinstalled Windows twice, removed all useless bloatware and got the latest drivers. The nvidia driver even shows that i am using the Geforce 630m when playing games, so i am not running on the onboard graphics, which i thoght was the problem to start with.

I've run Half Life 2 all maxxed out and that was smooth, but that's only HL2.

Shouldnt i be able to play HoN or Dota 2 smoothly?

Hope you can help me, cheers!

Edit: Just ran Diablo 3 and that should run smooth aswell on low, at least according to benchmarks of the 630m. But it doesnt :( I'm so lost

So dxdiag shows Intel family graphics 4000 and so does CPU-z. It seems like the laptop cant find my geforce 630m, and when i tell the laptop to use the 630m as the main graphics card in the nvidia controlpanel, it's just the same poor fps and super bad performance.

I'm starting to think that this laptop is broken and i should just send it back?

Set global settings to "high performance nvidia"

Run throttlestop with all the clock modulation to 100%, multiplier set to turbo. Uncheck all checkboxes below.

Overclock your GT 630m with a fresh driver from laptopvideo2go (install guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...pdate-nvidia-drivers-any-windows-version.html)

Then you can use this to boost fanspeed http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/599026-utility-access-allmost-all-hardware.html

I had to do this with my ASUS

Note: make sure Power4Gear is set to "high performance"

Thank you for your response, Mobius.

I have tried what you suggested but the end result is the same. Although i havent overclocked my GPU, i dont really want to and it shouldnt be necessary to play games on low/mid settings. The Power4Gear is set to high performance, and so is the global settings. I even tried to install the newest beta driver to see if that helped, but it didnt.

I've tried to run Crysis and got poor FPS aswell. Thanks a lot though

Try to run throttlestop like what I suggested, ASUS laptops prematurely throttles the CPU when the GPU is in load.

    You MUST uncheck BD PROCHOT

The bd prochot is already unchecked, maybe i was just expecting too much? I could try to run the games in lower resolution than the 1920x1080 and see how that is

You shouldn't expect too much from a 630M. I'm able to get mine to 810/1099, it provides a good boost in performance.
