Hello guys... i have since some months my N56VZ.. in those months i pratically used it from beginning into a multi monitor configuration.. you know... if you use the external hdmi the geforce 650m will be used instead the intel hd 4000...

All the time i worked with multi monitor the system was perfect... this summer however i had to disconnect my multi monitor system in order to bring the laptop with me... and since this moment a weird problem appeared:

All i can say it's it happens only when the hd 4000 is used (with just the notebook monitor nvidia is kept off and intel hd 4000 works) with high performances profile... it happened various times with and without ac charger put on..

It seems to happen only on windows and not on linux..

I tried to update the nvidia driver and... nothing... i tried to update the intel driver and it seems to happen Less frequently but i'm not safe from this kind of bug...

What i can say more is the problem seems to not be hardware... in short is not like the connectors were ed up... if i try to move mouse or do a whatever thing the computer is frozen.. i can only press for 5 seconds the power button and shut-down the pc, a pair of times happened that pc self rebooted too after some seconds i had this bug on without doing anything... in that occasion happened the bios clock was reset

I have the feeling that is a problem related to the voltage of intel graphic.. it could be that in some situations probably the usage of intel is high but the voltage or cpu frequency is too much conservative and make it crash.. that stuff reminds me indeed vga artifacts when you manually try to set a vcore or clock of a vga too low...

how i can solve this issue?

    Best Regards

Do you think it could have something to do with the screen resolution or refresh rate?

Normally with an external monitor (set on "Extend") the resolution is increased. Maybe there was a weird disconnect where windows still thinks it's in that extended resolution, and it's trying to display all the pixels at once. Try messing with the resolution settings and see if it does anything.

Did you try and reinstall Windows? It's a long shot but worth considering.
