I just received my notebook back from Asus where they replaced the Motherboard because they couldn't get rid of a BIOS password.

Now the problem is that when I go to turn it on the laptop immediately shuts off most of the time the screen doesn't even come on. After several attempts to turn it on with the battery in/out and trying to drain the power I got it to turn on with the Power supply. It seems the BIOS Password is fixed, but then I put in the battery and while it says charging the % doesn't move from 0%. I leave the laptop for a while and I come back and it has turned off again I Try to turn it on, but it is immediately shutting off again.

Is there anything I could do to fix it myself?
I could send it off again, but I would prefer not to be without my notebook for too long.

Most possible thing is that the battery is uncharged? Leave the PC for a couple of hours with the battery connected in order to charge it, and then try again.

Well even if the battery was the problem the notebook should be able to start with just the Power supply, Plus I did leave it "charging"with the battery in for 2 hours and I still have the same problems.

Odd. Perhaps the psu is poorly conected to the MB, therefore no power to the PC...?

I guess I'll call Asus tonight. I dont think it would be that since it does seem to want to turn on it just doesn't. Lights turn on then the go off, once in a while I get it running for a few minutes.

It sounds like your battery or your power circuit is faulty. You could try leaving it unplugged with no battery for a few minutes. Also if you are able to power it on, hit F2 to get to the BIOS setup and try resetting to user defaults. It may not solve the issue but is worth a try.

I know first hand if you report an issue like this part of the ASUS script will be to tell you to do a system reset. Remove the power cord, remove the battery and hold the power switch down for about 20 seconds. Then try to reboot. Hope this helps
