Anybody here who games with the n61jq? I'm bothered with the temps that I get with this thing. I just want to know your gpu and cpu temps during gaming.

Mine reaches 86C cpu and 92C gpu. During normal use (eg. web browsing), 62-68C for cpu and gpu. I use no cooler.

My machine came with a stock thermal compound. Its been 7 days since I first powered this thing on.

EDIT: just did some stess test with intel burn test. cpu reached 90C. :(

Your CPU temps are seems a bit warm during load, but still nothing out of the norm. Some websites, especially flash-based websites will tax on the CPU quite a bit, hence the 62-68C you're experiencing. Keep in mind that during load, the CPU can take up to 100C before it shuts itself down to prevent overheating, while the GPU has a threshold of 105C before downclocking. I'd suggest investing in a laptop cooler. That should help with lower the temperature. Also, you could try using a different graphics driver which may also help in reducing your overall GPU temps.

one of my two identical N61JQ-A1 died with same 90C max CPU temperature as yours. the other N61 still works ok with 4C less for max CPU temperature. but all max GPU temps seem lower than yours. i bought this model for the reason that it has no CPU throttling issue plus USB 3.0 but now i much doubt its thermal design and reliability. if i can get full refund i will send them all back.

Are you using a cooler or not? Have you tried intel burn test with your other machine?

Oh I see. Do you game with your other n61jq? What are the max temps you get while gaming?

one question I have is what are your ambient room temperature? This has a big effect on the effectiveness of your laptop's cooling and what temperatures you see from monitoring.

27C. Right now the cpu and gpu play within 62-71C range. I'm just browsing the internet.

From my experience, hp laptops run hot. It's surprising for me to see hp running cooler than asus.

intel burn test in HP DV7 i7-720 shows CPU max at 82C, GPU max 66C with 32 thread maximum stress. much better than N61.

the results for two n61jq were posted before, cpu max 86/90C, gpu about 10C less than cpu max.
