Hi there
My Asus N76VM is now over 2 years old and I have been experiencing problems with my Wifi-adapter for just over a year.
Sometimes my wireless network adapter works perfectly but after I reboot a few times Windows will either not find the adapter at all (not even in device manager) or if Windows finds it, the network adapter doesn't find any wireless networks.
Sometimes while my network adapter is working, it will suddenly disconnect and all wireless networks disappear.
Last week I decided to replace my network adapter with a newer model (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260). For a few days I didn't experience any problems but then suddenly the same problems started to occur again. My laptop is a few months out of warranty now.
I'm still deciding if I would buy a new laptop or not but I first want to make a detailed analysis of the problems with my current laptop.
Thanks for you input.

If you have already done this then the problem could be hardware-related. -

You haven't installed incorrect drivers in the past, have you? Doing so for WLAN devices often causes conflicts.
Before resorting to reinstalling or recovering the OS, you can try to run a utility or two to clean up your system in the hopes that it/they will remove anything causing potential conflicts. Ccleaner or Glary Utilities are good for this. -

The last thing I can think to try before suggesting you poke around your network's settings (on the router's end and/or the card's) is to try CompleteInternetRepair. It resets a lot of Windows network related settings, sometimes fixing any misnomers.
