    Hello All,

I've seen this discussed in several threads, but have been unable to find a definitive answer. As some of you may know, Asus states the N76VZ supports a max of 8 GB (2x4GB), while Crucial and several other sites suggests the maximum is 16 GB (2x8GB). Any insight is appreciated. Thank you. -Thomas

You can put 16gb in there. The processor and board both support it.

    Thank you, Derek.

Surprisingly, the system arrived with the HDD/RAM bay cover screw stripped. Just wondering if anyone else's arrived this way? It was ordered from Amazon, and the tamper seal on the box does not appear to have been tampered with. Thanks, Thomas.

..um, well, unless there's a bios-update incoming, the bios is stuck at timings for the ram that might make it difficult to get some ram-sticks to boot. (And if they boot, you might not be running at full speed). So if you're upgrading ram now, take a look at this thread where GentechPC generously tested a few different types to see which ones worked for us.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/677457-asus-n56vz-16gb-ram-thread.html

It's completely true that the board supports 16gb at any and all kinds of different timing, though. But when the timings are forced in the bios, that doesn't help much.

If people can write asus and complain about this, I'd be very happy, btw. Because I'm still stuck with a pair of 1.35v sticks that won't even boot. :)
