Primary problem I have is if I'm using the laptop and it's plugged into the outlet and I disconnect the power, it'll immediately freeze. Plugging the powersupply back in doesn't fix it, I need to reboot. I periodically also get freezing when waking from sleep mode. Mouse cursor will be frozen and sometimes the power on/off doesn't turn the laptop off and I have to take the battery out. The second problem has become less of an issue since I changed power settings so that it wakes to the program I was running and not the password screen. But the first problem is becoming a very annoying problem because if I'm moving from one room to the other I can't simply unplug the powercord because it'll freeze. Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest reinstalling/updating the ATK suite of drivers and applications (ATK drivers, Generic Function Utility, ATKHotkey, ATK OSD, ATK Media maybe) and see if that fixes the problems. Also try to update your BIOS if you don't have the latest version.

The reason is that I suspect some power management bugs, and the ATK is related to power management in Windows.

This can just as well be a hardware problem though...

One other step you could try would be to use the recovery partition or disks to restore the computer to the factory state. If that fixes the issue then it's not hardware.

    did you find a fix?

i have the same issue. the weird thing is, i cannot duplicate the problem. it really seems like it happens randomly. i can go for weeks without any freeze issues, and bam out of nowhere computer freezes after i unplug the power cord. it seems like this issues occurs whenever i go into sleep/hibernate mode.

anyone else with same or similar issues or have a fix?

i called asus and they didn't help at all -_- not a surprise
