Ok, I must be missing something here that's most likely pretty obvious to someone else. I installed 64bit Vista Home Premium SP1 a bit ago and installed all the utils that were shown as 64bit on the asus website.

Installed fingerprint drivers, etc, but I do not see any type of logon ability to be used with the FP reader now that 64bit is installed.

The drivers installed, but looked high and low for the FP utility itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

no smb3d, smart logon is for the facial recognition login

what you want to install is ASUS Security Protect Manager. That handles the fingerprint login stuff

Ah, yes. my apologies. I just did the exact same as the OP last night, and had all the names running through my head.

OK thanks. I notice that some people especially on newegg talk of using the driver disc that came with it to install all that kind of thing; mine is labeled 32-bit ONLY. I have not tried the disc because of that, but failing that I did not see the mentioned security util on the asus site. Actually there were several things missing from the site , the splendid utility and the fingerprint logon util.

I'll check that disc though, thank you.

yea i was browsing what they offered for 64-bit and couldn't find the fingerprint driver & utility.

i know for 32-bit the download is listed under the "other" section and is labeled "fingerprint driver and utility for vista"

hope you have success in finding one that works for 64-bit (not sure if the 32-bit works with 64-bit)

That's strange that they would ship two different driver disks. Both the one for my f8v and my n80v had 32-bit vista installed, but came with a driver disk that had both 32 and 64 bit drivers.

update: the driver disc labeled '32-bit only' worked just fine on the vista 64 install. I expected some problems but all looks good :)
