    Hi all,
I have an ASUS N81Vp-X1 that I bought off of Newegg.com a little over a year ago. I love it, and overall have only had one issue with it: it overheats to the point of shutdown when playing games.

I am only playing games like World of Warcraft, Portal 2 and The Elder Scrolls IV on it, and then not necessarily on the highest settings.

The corner where the processor is gets incredibly hot to the touch, and sometimes the laptop will just shut down after playing for about an hour. I know it's shutting down due to overheating, and I'm pretty sure that was the major contributor to my hard drive getting fried.

I recently cleaned out (using compressed air) the one vent that's adjacent to the processor and heat sink, but there wasn't too much dust that came out.

I'm wondering if there's a way that I can further cool the laptop. It's more than able to play many games, spec-wise, but the heat issue prevents me from playing more than a little bit at a time.

    Suggestions?

Try making one of these for when you game lol, I made this for $35, and it uses a powerful fan not one of those weak tiny laptop cooling fans.

It makes a 15-20 degree difference.

Get a laptop cooler or a setup like foreverZen and have you replaced your thermal paste yet? That could be a source of the problem since the paste goes bad over time.
