I have a fairly new Asus Notebook PC X551CA and already I am having some issues with it. First and foremost, this thing eats battery like a fat kid eats cake. How can I conserve the battery life better? Also, a few days ago my battery died, so I shut off the computer by holding in the power button (now I know this isn't what you are supposed to do, but I was in the middle of watching a movie and the sound wouldn't stop-I had no other choice). Since then, every time I turn on my computer, the sound isn't functioning correctly. The volume is all the way up, and it's not on mute, but it isn't playing any sound. I've tried running a trouble-shooter and no errors came back. I don't know what is wrong. Can some one help me fix this issue?

How does a fat kid lose weight?

Diet. :) Employ some power saving features/use a power saver power plan in Windows. Dim the screen brightness, user fewer USB devices, etc. The battery is not exactly impressive at only 4 cells, 2600 mAh, 37 Whrs, so there is only so much you can do

Have you checked the Playback devices? Your speakers might not set as default.
