A few weeks ago I read about Asus being the first company with an X2300 GPU in their laptops. Could Justin from Proportable or anyone else please tell me when this laptop is expected to be released, what sort of performance this card will offer and an estimated price.

    Thanks for the help!

Well x2300 judging by Ati's previous card naming would indicate its a low end card, barely above integrated graphics, So it wouldnt be a hardcore gaming rig.

    Sure...

    A8JR-4P021C
    $1,249.00 USD
    T5500 (1.66GHZ)
    14" WXGA (1280 x 800)
    8x SM DVD-RW
    1 x 1GB DDR2 667
    128MB ATI x2300
    120GB/5400RPM HDD
    Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
    0.3MP Webcam
    Vista Home Premium

It's not a fantastic notebook really... it's a good value for the money, and some will say that for only $350 more you could get the A8js.... The only issue there is that $350 on top of the cost of the A8jr is 28%.. That's a lot of extra money to put into a notebook if your budget is around $1250....

It's worth noting that we're going to see a LOT of so-called "low-end dedicated graphics" solutions this coming year.... With the requirements of Vista Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate, we're going to see some of the systems from last year that had intel's integrated solutions upgraded to these low power dedicated gpus so they can make use of the new OS. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, with the exception of the W5fe, all of the "##f" (indicates integrated graphics on the 945 chipset) models are not coming back for the later part of this model year and I doubt we're going to see much of them in the future, unless of course intel's integrated solution on the santa rosa chipset is much, much better.

What about the R1F? Will that get an upgrade like this (to dedicated graphics) as well?

Doubt it. The whole point of a tablet is to be mobile and energy efficient.

oh ya but as long as newegg has the a8jp its only 50$ for a t7200 and a x1700

also I think in the numbering model phase that the next run all uses numbers one back of this one

what i mean is the x2300 is the model that is the x1400 now. not the x1300( if there even was that)
