Well, Asus finally listed the details. This shows "only valid to the US market"... so that "north american warranty" may just be for the US customers. You're going to have to check with Asus on that one though.

Ha, I was going to post that Asus had the Premiere Protection on their site, but then I thought that maybe it had been up for a while already (since it's the 5th already).

    Can't wait to get my W5a [|)]

I don't know.... there are two parts that show open to US markets only..... but then it's a North American warranty... I wonder if this just isn't open to the Canadian dealers, but would be for US dealers to sell to Canada since it's still part of our everyday market. I do not know how to answer that yet.

    Thanks,

That's ridiculous, I can't believe they did that...I mean It's an additional one year "North American" warranty...why couldn't they extend it to us Canadians, we're technically even more NORTH American than the US is!!! First the damn rebates and now this, we just can't catch a break...logically there's no reason we shouldn't be included on this...I think I'm going to call in and ***** on this one!!! [8D]

Anyone know the Official number us Canadians can call to speak directly with ASUS? Do we even have an Official Canadian ASUS representative?

AuroraS, I was recently taught that "Jipped" or “Gypped” as It’s correct spelling, is actually a racist comment...Just thought I'd pass that on...I consciously use Ripped off now...I hope that too doesn't turn out to have any Racist roots.[ :)]

I wrote to Asus and pointed this out..... it's an extra 1 year NA warranty, but only to US market..... don't make total sense.

Come on... Canada uses the US' country code for their phone numbers.... you're right next store..... and the Californian office supplies all of North America.... so, I don't know if this is just a wording issue (afterall, this would be minor compared to some of the things they've translated into english)....... but like I said, I've asked and I'm waiting for a reply... I'll let you know.

    Thanks,
    Justin

That's too bad. I was pretty sure it would cover Canada as well. So, would that mean even if you buy the notebook from these US dealers, the warranty wouldn't cover Canadians ?(as you have to register and give all your details). Anyhow, that's bad news.[ :(]

Thanks Justin, I was just kidding...but It's looking bad for us...because when you click the "Dealers" link on that APPP page, (which you're on) It specifically says:
"This promotion is only vaild to the US market."

So I really hope they worded it wrong...but If they haven't...It shouldn't be too hard to convince them that it makes sense to include us in the Promo, after all, we're paying the same prices up here and It's not going to make that big a difference to their bottom line...or at least I don't think It will. So that's the confirmed response...or are you just re-stating things?

I'm going to try and find the number and give them a call tomorrow, doesn't seem to fair to me. [8D]

Why through July 31st? So this just a limited time promotion to sell more notebooks or is it a pilot program that might get extended after that date.

Flat out because Asus' marketing team just wakes up and throws something together....

To the customers, it's great no matter what..... but to us dealers, Asus said they were putting together a "preferred listed" of dealers who would be like Asus' top five picks or something like that who would be "authorized" and would be able to give the customers something above and beyond what you'd pick up elsewhere.

Well, to have a "preferred" list, you have to have a "regular" list.... if you haven't noticed, Asus basically changed everyone over to "preferred" and it's certainly nothing special..... So in the end Asus didn't do jack for the dealers, and is now just going to give everyone an extra year warranty... They certainly didn't have to do that if everyone was going to be the same.

I honestly believe they have people right down ideas and then choose what to do by pulling things out of a hat.

    Just my two cents.

    Thanks,
    Justin
