Hello all..
Last week I had a new motherboard installed on my Asus Q500A laptop.
When I got it back the keyboard backlights no longer worked. This wasn't a problem before I sent it out for repair. Here is what I've done so far to try and fix it:
- Installed eleven different versions of the ATK package. v18, v22, v23, v24,
v25, v28, v29, v30, v31, v33, v34.
None of them enable the backlight control. FN + F3 opens my email. FN + F4 opens my browser.
- Reinstalled keyboard filter drivers
- Reinstalled Intel chipset drivers
- Reinstalled asus express cache and instant key utility
- Downgraded bios from 207 to 205, then back to 207. I don't know what
the bios on my old motherboard is.
- Installed a brand new keyboard. Thought maybe the old one was
somehow damaged when the new motherboard was installed.
I am running Windows 8.1 64bit.
Have I missed anything? What could be causing this?

The keyboard has two ribbon cables, you can check them to make sure if they are both inserted into the connector slot properly or not.
