I recently picked up an Asus Q502LA while it was on sale at best buy. Overall I like the laptop but I'm running into an odd issue with the display. When I first turn the laptop on, there is a very pronounced glow around the entire circumferance of the screen. It's similar to a typical backlight bleed but more obvious and around the entire screen. What's very odd about it is that it seems to go away if I leave the laptop display on for ~2-3 hours, then comes back once the laptop has been off overnight. Does anyone else have the Q502LA and can they confirm that they see this behavior as well, or has anyone seen this on another laptop? I'm just not sure if I should return it if it is a flaw in the design or try to exchange it.

Edit: Oh, one thing that distinguishes it from regular backlight bleed is that it is not visible on a black screen, but is very visible on dark gray or dark color screens.

Update for anyone who saw this. I exchanged it at Best Buy and the replacement has the same issue but it is not nearly as pronounced and seems to dissipate more quickly. So I guess it is a quirk of the display but just like with backlight bleed it can be better or worse on differently units.

It sounds like an oddity that abates as the screen 'warms up' (not that they require a warm up period). Have you touched base with Asus support about it, even if just to inquire as to why it behaves this way?

Yeah, they essentially said that some glow around the edge of the screen is unavoidable with IPS screens so I assume they thought I was just referring to normal backlight bleed. They did say I could send it in for them to assess if I was unhappy, but I don't think it bothers me enough to warrant that.
