Has anyone played with the Asus R1F yet? Any impressions?

Anyone know when this machine will be released in the U.S.?

End of the month..... Similar hinge design to fujitsu (I could tell you why).... but it's solid and a good design if you like convertibles..... Personally, I'm a slate guy and once you get used to not having the option to use a keyboard, you get really good with the tablet.... plus slates can be thinner and lighter as well.

Just as solid as say the W7..... same size screen, and not much larger.... it's going to be close to 5 pounds though... it picks up a little more weight than the W7 in the hinge.

Should be here about the same time the R2H UMPC arrives..... I believe they're both in production right about now.

I heard recently that it's set to have integrated graphics, not the dedicated card that was being anticipated.

Is the resolution the same as the W7J?

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more chatter about this on these boards.

The model is the R1F..... F standing for integrated graphics on the 945 chipset...... It's not called the R1J (which would indicate dedicated graphics).

WXGA res..... same as the W7J.

    Thanks for the info.

Is the end of July release date pretty firm? I need this machine early August and I'm debating between the Asus R1F and the Fujitsu T4210.

I wish I had more specs for the Asus so I could do better comparisons.

because sometimes notes require more than just words.

Sometimes it's nice to scribble diagrams, write the notes instead of typing, etc.
I've drawn some schematics before and it's very convient.

Let me try to help explain something to you guys.... Yes, this is a tablet, but it's coming through Asus' notebook division and since this is their first tablet, they don't have tablet specific locations to put their information out through. Once it's in, we'll have it and the information will be on this section of the site before anywhere else...... you can almost guarentee that. The problem is that anyone needing a completely brand new device that is in production right now, within a month..... that's pushing it. I don't want to tell you that you're probably going to miss it, but stuff happens and if you're firm about early August, I think you may have jinx'd all of us... I don't know. They should be here before the end of July, but you just never know.

I didn't mean to jinx anyone. There are other viable tablet PC alternatives. I was just hoping to see the one made by Asus.

They do, or at least it's being made....... I'm just saying that your comment may have just pushed delivery back a month.. you never know.
