WOW. No way does that screen actually do that?!?!?!? That is soooo cool.

Anyway I'm not one to be swayed by the looks though so I tried the link. Have you pointed it to the right page? It might just be my internet but it didn't work for me?!

Erm, mickeymike/mattireland, TPCR has had a review of the R1F (actually, 2 I believe) for quite some time. Take a look at the sister site.

It is a very detailed review. Not sure why they are comparing it to Acer Travelmate though - it would have been nice to see it compared to some newer tabletpcs such as the lenovo x61t or the fujitsu t4220

yeah but Notebookcheck.com, Anandtech and/or xbitlabs are the only laptop review sites that know what their doing and how to review a laptop properly

^actually at least one of those reviews (on tabetpcreview) is a user review. Besides this review comes when most people who want a high end tablet pc are going with the newer offering from fujitsu or lenovo - or waiting like me for (hopefully) an R1F refresh

I sincerely beg to differ. AnandTech has pretty good component (CPU, GFX, cooler, etc) reviews, but their laptop reviews are pretty substandard. They don't hold a candle to any of the reviews done by Andrew and many others imo.

well youre welcome to differ. But all ive seen since being here are reviews that are basically all user inputted and amateurish at best. (no disrespect mind you) But none of them can be classified as indepth at all.
Just look at xbitlabs review. They bench it with real world tasks.
AnandTech does simular and they also have the use of a colometer to test monitor color, delta, luminosity and cd/m2.
In fact AnandTechs newest review is the Gateway E155. A pretty lowly budget laptop and they run it thru the mill as if it was a high end product.
The most overlooked component of any laptop is the monitor. I have yet to see any review on here that has used any measuring tools to measures its specifications. Hell i even have an old Pantone Spyder color calibrator i personally use.
So you go and look at that gateway review. You wont see anything like it and far from substandard.
You ever wonder why EnGadget once made a reference to NBR as 'those kids on NBR"???

At least you can get informative reviews within a few weeks of the laptop being released.

Yes it is a very good review - but it fails as it is just too late. Most people who willing to spend the money on an R1F will rather buy the newest generation of tabletpcs, not the tablet that has well publicised battery problems.

As long as the product is still in production a in-depth review like this is never too late. At least it provides a benchmark for its refresh for comparison.

And battery probs can be fickle most times because theres just so many variables that define and determine battery life and its usage. I rarely pay much attention to user imputted battery usage and laugh the most when gamers post they get crap battery when they game. Wel, duh...
