Any reviews or users of the "ASUS R500VM-MS71" laptop?
I am getting it for $799.99 but unable to find any decent review of the same on the internet.

The specs are as follows :
    Intel® Core(tm) i7-3610QM
    8GB DDR3-1600 SDRAM
    750GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive

Any comments / reviews / user experiences will be much appreciated.

Hey, I just bought the R500VM little more than a week ago( you will find more info if you search under K55VM). It’s an amazing machine for $800. I’m playing SWTOR and BF3 on high settings, the machine runs them great and they look amazing. The screen resolution isn’t the greatest, I've considered buying a good external screen but from what I understand that may kill some of my FPS. I wasn't able to run a 3D benchmark because the video card and drivers weren't recognized by 3DMark.

One other thing, I do notice that after playing games for a while the heat blowing out of the exhaust fan on the side is pretty hot.

In the end, i wish i had $400-500 more to buy one of the ROG machines but I didn't, I had 800 and as far as I am concerned there is nothing better on the market or in the foreseeable future that can out perform this machine at this price...GO OUT AND BUY IT :)

    Paladis,

Now that you've had your Asus R500VM-MS71 for a while longer. How happy are you with it now? I'm asking because I'm looking at buying one and I'd like to see if you've found since this post that's diminished your enthusiasm for this laptop. I've seen a number of people knock the lack of an HD screen & lack of a backlit keyboard but that seems a bit overboard for me since we just plan to use it a simple home computer and to stream some movies to our TV through the HDMI outputs. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

[Asus R500VM] Be careful with this laptop, it looks like it has high specs, but it is actually an under performing machine. The graphic density is limited. The graphics card is unsuitable for some games. (It will not run Black Ops II). My machine hangs up under load. Given the the processor and the graphics card this is supposed to have, it is utterly disappointing.

I was thinking of buying one of these for around $500, and use it for video editing with Adobe Premiere and Avid. Would you guys not recommend this machine for that?
I took into consideration the i7 and a dedicated viddeo card.
