    What I do is,
    1) Insert recovery disc and reboot
    2) Press ESC at Asus splashscreen and select CD/DVD device to boot from
    3) Select Recover to 1st partition only (so it wont' affect my D: partition)
    4) Do NOT insert the drivers CD when asked, instead force a reboot
    5) Then install drivers manually

I would a OEM Vista DVD, just because the recovery CD installs stuff that you don't need.

If you're using the method I have mentioned above along with the Asus recovery disc, you will have a clean Vista.
