I hate rebates. Not dislike, hate.
You might want to check out the 2nd link in my sig. -
Not sure why Kalim but I say saving any amount of money is a good thing.
Thanks David. -
I have nothing against saving money and I know why some companies like rebates, but why make it a complicated ordeal? Just reduce the cost by the same amount of money. Done. Plus, the money a company can save by not hiring one of those cheesy rebate outfits could also be passed back to the customer. So, technically you could actually save even more money without a rebate.
What they are banking on is that you don't ask for your money back. And, when you do, often enough there's some insignificant detail that was missed or maybe they just didn't like your e-mail printed receipt and it's rejected.
And, don't forget to make copies of everything, just in case they lose everything. Just in case the rebate expires while you are in contact with them. Or, hope you didn't buy something with two rebates, because they'll tell you, "Sorry, you only qualify for one", even though you were assured by the seller you qualified for both. Then, spend even more of your time convincing the seller to get involved on your behalf.
Then, if you are lucky in 8 weeks you'll either receive a check or a letter asking you to resubmit your claim again. Speaking of 'saving any amount of money', that's 8 weeks of interest from my bank, not including postage, that I lost while they had my money tied up. And, for what, so I can "save" $20, while they gamble that the next guy won't be so persistent.
Did I mention I hate rebates. -
That's all very true, Kalim. I'm one of those people that justifies a purchase because "I'm saving $50!" and then forget to send the thing in. Companies love consumers like me.

Regardless of personal opinion on the entire rebate system, this is something that potential Asus buyers should take advantage of. Especially for those who were already planning to purchase one of the above listed laptops, there's no harm in submitting a rebate form.
