    Hi all,

My sisters Asus S56CA laptop is refusing to post, thus I'm unable to access the bios or boot into windows.

The laptop turns on, power button led is on and the CPU fan spins but there is no screen output.
The laptop light bulb front LED switch on with the laptop with the the hard drive/ wi-fi and caps lock lights and then the end 3 lights go off leaving just the light bulb on.

I've taken the 4GB ram stick out and tried in another machine and vice versa, this appears not to be the problem.
I don't think that the back light has failed.

I've tried, disconnecting the battery, restarting using various techniques. Safe mode doesnt work, spamming bios hotkey doesn't work. Booting without battery but mains power doesn't work. There are no USB peripheral devices connecting.

Unfortunately the laptop is now outside of its 12 month warranty.
Googling identified a common motherboard failure with this model and its looking that way to me but was wondering if anyone else could suggest anything?

    Many Thanks

Do you mean you tried flushing the current from the board (remove the battery and charger, press and hold power button for 5 seconds, then reconnect battery and/or charger)? That resets the EC chip. If that isn't working, it could indeed be the board.
