    I have a Asus G51J.

As a gaming laptop with specifications that claimed to have superior sound quality, the maximum volume that the speaker can emits at is very low.

I set the volume t the maximum and the sound is still very weak. I had a HP laptop before and its volume at 50% is louder than Asus at 100%.

could anyone advise me on what i should do to make the sounder louder on my Asus G51J?

    - Buy a speaker set
    - Use headphone/earphone

I've personally never ever heard a good sound quality from any internal laptop speaker.

kohck, you can't make the volume any louder so use headphones or buy an external speakers as VZX mentioned.

For playing video/audio you can use the video/audio player equalizer to increase the volume. Of course this will be artificial enhancement and the sound won't be too great.
I fully agree about the crappy audio quality of the Asus speakers. I also own an HP, and the sound is much louder, clearer and you can actually hear the bass. There is no such thing as bass from the Asus speakers. There is only scratching of some kind.

For the sound issue go to control panel > sound > speaker > properties > enhancements > select loudness equalization and this should make your speakers significantly louder.

A guy in a Newegg review posted that if you go into bios (F2) and turn on the bios start up sound that the volume in Windows increases.....I've tried it and it's hard to say whether it make much difference...it might seem a somewhat louder....

My biggest complaint with the speaker on mine is them being located on the front bottom of the unit... they sound very echo-y and distorted compared to my old HP laptop the I bought 3 yrs ago....they also get muffled when in ones lap and the audio is of a subpar quality compared to other manufactures lappies....ie cheap speakers or something..I have the X83VP-X1 btw...

To those that say, laptop speakers are crap get earbuds/headphones or external speakers....that's fine for mp3s, movies, games, etc...but that's not very conveinient for podcast, youtube, and other activities where you just want decent onboard sound that is loud and clear enough to be heard.

The bios option is only for the windows login sound... The sound you hear when the windows logo is up on bootup

No, it's actually a bios jingle, not windows, but regardless, this Newegg reviewer claimed that it made the onboard windows vol. in general, louder on his ASUS...tbh, I don't know if I can tell much difference on my model, but it might be worth a shot...
